We’re speaking at the conference, and our talk touches on our roles as both co-authors of Minimalist Parenting and professional bloggers at Boston Mamas and Parent Hacks.

Our talk is called “Minimalize” Your Workflow: Practical Steps for Enjoying Your Blogging More By Doing Less, and we’ll be sharing some mindset adjustments and practical steps for streamlining and focusing online work.

We’d like to thank Cozi for supporting our presence at Mom 2.0 (which includes a book signing on Friday morning).

A good shared calendar and to-do list is at the core of Minimalist Parenting, and Cozi Family Organizer is one of the best options out there. I’ve been a Cozi fan for years.

Cozi lets your family easily share:

A calendar (simplifying family logistics)

A to-do list (you can create individual and shared lists)

A shopping list (hugely helpful if you share shopping duties)

A journal (for jotting down quick notes and adding pictures)

Everything syncs across devices, computers, and even other calendaring systems. I especially like that you can include your older kids without having to sign them up for a Google account (not something all families want to do right away).

Sign up and give Cozi a try. If you sign up today you’ll be entered for a chance to win a Dropcam HD camera!

Thank you, Cozi, for your support, and for providing such a useful tool for families looking to simplify the logistical details.

The response to Minimalist Parenting has been staggering. We’ve had a few heart-stopping moments (like when the book hit #168 at Amazon on launch day, and when Christine saw the room filled with love for the Boston launch party), but mostly, it has been a steady stream of enthusiasm and support.

There’s almost an audible sigh of relief we’re hearing from overwhelmed parents. That, more than anything else, gets our unicorn flag flying.

We track every press mention and review we see on the Press page, but here are some recent highlights:

Alpha Mom chose Minimalist Parenting for its April Parenting Book Club. If you haven’t already, grab a copy so you can join the discussion on 4/23!

We continue our run as guest hosts of The Huffington Post Stress-Less Parenting Workshop. Our latest post is about simplifying birthday parties. Past posts discuss time management and school year activities.

Exciting forays into broadcast including a Portland, OR news feature, a live radio interview with veteran Bay Area talk show host Ronn Owens, and a spot as guest host on the popular Manic Mommies podcast.

Kids In The House, a new video advice resource for parents, just launched, and it features Asha as one of its contributors (among many notables in the field).

Reviews from people we admire: Gabby Blair of Design Mom, Heather Flett and Whitney Moss of Rookie Moms, Roxanna Sarmiento of Everyday Treats, Erin Kane of Manic Mommies and more.

We think this graphic, by the lovely and talented (and cheeky in the best way) Jamaica Jenkins of Parenting On Track, sums it up perfectly.

I cannot believe that the Boston launch party was one week ago; what an insanely awesome and magical night. Thank you to everyone who attended or sent your well wishes! I want to share a photo recap, but first thank you again to Isis Parenting for your amazing support with this event, especially to Heather Coughlin who immediately said, “Let’s do this thing!” when we first discussed it and to Laura Thom for her amazing work in pulling off all the details. It was such an honor to connect the March of Dimes as the beneficiary of this event. They are an amazing organization; go sign up for the Boston March for Babies on May 11, find a walk near you, and/or make a donation!

Also, one more quick thing: the Isis Parenting/Minimalist Parenting/March of Dimes love continues through tomorrow! Stop by Isis Parenting at Prudential Center by closing on Saturday, April 6, and buy a copy of Minimalist Parenting — all proceeds from book sales will go to March of Dimes! A limited quantity of books are available so go get yours!

And now, on to the recap:

When I arrived for sound check, I nearly hyperventilated. The space was so beautiful. And there were, um, a lot of chairs. Eep.

I’m grateful to Cindy Meltzer (loved seeing you Cindy!) for capturing this shot with Heather Coughlin of Isis. What an amazing woman.

As the event started to fill up, I was in perpetual freak out and squeal mode as I greeted people from all phases of my life…middle and high school, college, my first new mom friends, and blogging colleagues, not to mention people from the community who I have interfaced with on the internet and was meeting for the first time. So amazing! And I seriously could not believe that Chrysula Winegar came up from Connecticut for the event. As I confessed during my talk, I have issues when it comes to people showing up for me. Thank you, Chrysula, for showing up.

I simple adore Jane Rhodes (and hey, there’s my friend Chuck in the background!). Jane is a talented (and ever stylish) blogger who contributes wonderful writing to Boston Mamas. I was thrilled to meet her husband too.

It was fun to meet Casey (snapper of below photo) and her lovely partner. Casey and I rap on Twitter. The internet is fun. Also, Flat Asha? She loves to party. People took a lot of pictures of her when I broke her out at the podium.

My girl Roxanna shot one of my favorite pictures of the evening. I so wanted to take a photo of the crowd from the podium, but I kept thinking, No, be present in the moment. Thank you, Roxanna, for capturing this vantage point!

And one from the reverse angle. Man, this space was beautiful. Thank you Nancy Holtzman for capturing this view. For my talk, I decided to focus on things that were not fully available in the book; my personal story (from academia to freelancer) and the power of community. Word on the street was that it really resonated with people. I’m so, so glad. And also grateful to Asha, Heather, and Meagan for helping me steer the content in this direction.

Paige is one of my longtime and dear friends. She also apparently never ages.

I was so grateful to my sisters Jennifer and Stephanie for supporting me at the event. They have seen me through, well, a lot of good and bad times.

I’m grateful to Paige for capturing the one photo I have of me and Jon at the event. Jon is an incredible husband and father. He’s also an incredible therapist, should you need his services. Thank you for sharing this moment with me, Jon.

And then the next day…how awesome is this? Bridget of Purely Pears, who I had the pleasure of meeting at the launch party, tweeted me this photo of her signed book and babies. Gah! Babies!

And then…it turns out my publisher Erika snapped this photo and submitted it to Publishers Weekly. And it was selected as Photo of the Day! BANANAS.

As you can see, it was a crazy awesome night. There were so many people I love but don’t have photos of; as you can see, I was relying on everyone else’s photography for the most part! Thank you everyone for coming, and thank you to everyone who has been supporting us virtually too. Asha and I are so, so grateful to you all!

I can hardly believe a week ago today I was en route home from BlissDom — I felt so fortunate to attend! I was there both in a client capacity to help the wonderful Shot@Life folks with their suite activities, and also for a Minimalist Parenting love fest represented by a book signing, busting out Flat Asha for the first time, and hugging in person or meeting for the first time many of the folks who received a copy of the book in their welcome bag. I just wanted to take a moment to issue huge, huge thanks to our dear friends at ONE Moms for providing books for all of the speakers and community leaders at the conference, and to Alli and Barbara of BlissDom for their generosity in accommodating our inclusion into the bags and book signing schedule! The experience was especially lovely given that BlissDom was where the idea for Minimalist Parenting was born, and since BlissDom and ONE are both so rooted in community and awesomeness.

As some of you may know, Asha and I traveled to Ethiopia with ONE Moms last fall and it was an incredible journey. We encourage you to join the ONE Moms movement; ONE is an amazing organization that is leading the charge to eradicate global poverty. They never ask for your money, only your voice. And they are totally awesome. I tear up every time I think about the fall mission trip.

Anyway, I wanted to share a handful of photos from the weekend. There’s even more awesomeness that took place beyond these photos but, well, I had to get minimalist and edit, you know?

One of my favorite things about the weekend? Lots of face time with the amazing Chrysula Winegar.

I love companies that are responsive to last minute ideas. I’ve heard from several people that they’ve been unable to secure sitters for the Boston launch party this Thursday {insert resounding boo-hoo!}. So I floated an email to my friend Cindy, who works with UrbanSitter, to ask if UrbanSitter would be willing to share some babysitting credit to help people get to the party.

And in the time it took me to go get a snack, I had an answer. True story. Here’s the deal:

Go get your ticket to the Boston launch party on the 28th and book a sitter via UrbanSitter using the promo code BOSTONMAMA to receive $10 credit in babysitting services. Being an UrbanSitter member is free so the $10 goes directly to paying the sitter. Woo hoo! I hope to see you on Thursday! And thanks to Cindy and UrbanSitter for this awesome little last minute treat!

+ + + + +

Here’s the fine print:

Get a $10 credit for babysitting services when you enter promotional code BOSTONMAMA*. Sign up at UrbanSitter.com now and enter your code on the Credits page under My Account. Use your credit by 03/31/13 to pay any sitter listed as accepting credit cards. *UrbanSitter promotion code and credit is subject to certain terms & conditions including sitter availability, locations served by UrbanSitter, and sitters who accept online payment. Promotion code use limited to one transaction per member. Promo code valid through 03/31/13. UrbanSitter reserves the right to modify these terms.
